A GUIDE TO STORES AND DISTRIBUTORS STOCKING FACTSHEET FIVE AMOK, 4005 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90029. These folks run a store and mail order service of strange and disturbing books and magazines. Sometimes they are a bit slow to pay, but they always come through in the end. ARMADILLO & CO., 928 California Ave., Venice, CA 90291: A regional distributor for southern California. ARTCITE, Mackenzie Hall, 3277 Sandwich St., Windsor, ONT, N9C 1A9, CANADA; (519)-977-6564: "An artist-run centre for the contemporary arts" ART IN FORM (Laura J. Millin, PO Box 2567, Seattle, WA 98111) has been selling FF since early '86. "We require a sample copy with liberal trade terms preferred. It is best if we can pay for copies sold of an issue when the new issue arrives -- some call this consignment (though definitions of this term vary!). We do not swap. The only material we are not interested in is traditionally pornographic. Bleck." BLACKLIST MAILORDER(475 Valencia St., San Francisco, CA 94107, 415-957-9390) has been aggressively advertising their service in many zines, and they're quite committed to the small press. Their terms are rather novel, since they're non-profit: they mark everything up 20% over their wholesale price. "Send sample with selling price -- racist, sexist & fascist zines shouldn't bother sending a sample. We are open to music, political, poetry, fiction, art, etc. We operate on 60-day consignment. At this time we are only selling zines in English due to our language ignorance." They've been moving FF steadily since they started, and are fast and easy to deal with. Contact Martin for more details, or send your zine. THE BOOKSTORE, Betty Granda, 307 W. Allen, Springfield, IL 62704. Flatland is also very interested in hearing from those with books to sell via distributors, and with other publishers who can work out reciprocal distribution deals. Jim notes that zines with color covers, better paper, and a price printed on the cover sell better, while music and poetry have not been moving well for him. 50% consignment terms, with whole copies good for return credit. #33 was the last FF he carried; after that, he canceled our arrangement in disgust over a review of a book he published. Tower buys on consignment, with the one office sending zines out to all the Tower stores worldwide.
