ILC Client Profile
Genentech
In June of 1995, ILC designed a curriculum and provided trainings for high school biology teachers in the use of the Internet, commercial online services, email, telnet, and USENET. These teachers then went on to use their knowledge to introduce a group of 100 biology teachers to these same skills.
This training was a part of "Access
Excellence", an experimental program sponsored by Genentech to provide outreach to high school biology teachers in the US. Each year 100 teachers
are selected from a national competition to become an Access Excellence Fellow. As a Fellow, each participant receives a Powerbook and subsidized
access to America Online so that they can share information with teachers around the country.
The 20 hour training provided by ILC was broken into 4 separate classes.
