In mid 1994 ILC provided extensive consulting to Synoptics Corp (which merged with Wellfleet in Oct. 1994 to form Bay Networks) helping Synoptics to understand and prepare to use Internet technologies for
the distribution of information within the company's vast wide-area network. This was an entirely "inside the firewall" project, which used TCP/IP software (http server etc) but was not open to the general public.
